Magical Machu Picchu: 4 Days / 3 Nights

Pickup from the Cusco airport or bus terminal and transfer to your hotel for check-in. In the afternoon, a city tour through the archaeological heart of the city: the Qorikancha (Temple of the Sun, a visit of about 45 minutes), and the sites in the upper part of Cusco: Sacsayhuaman, Q'enqo, Puka Pukara and Tambomachay. The day ends at approximately 7:00 pm, with the evening free to acclimatize to Cusco's altitude (3,400 masl).

Pickup from your hotel between 6:30 and 7:00 am. First stop at Chinchero (3,762 masl), with its traditional weaving workshops. It continues to Moray, the Inca agricultural laboratory of terraced circular depressions up to 30 meters deep, and the Maras Salt Mines, with more than 3,000 salt pools fed by an underground spring. Buffet lunch in Urubamba, and in the afternoon, a visit to the Ollantaytambo fortress, the only Inca town still inhabited with its original urban layout. From the Ollantaytambo station you board the scenic train to Aguas Calientes, where you spend the night.

Breakfast at the hotel and bus transfer up to the citadel (about 20 minutes along a zigzag road). The guided visit lasts about 2 hours and covers the main sectors: the Inca workshops, the Temple of the Moon, the Temple of the Sun and the Temple of the Condor. Afterward there's free time to explore the citadel on your own or take photos from different viewpoints, before heading down to Aguas Calientes, having lunch on your own, and taking the return train to Ollantaytambo, with a final transfer to Cusco.
